Will there ever be no water on Earth | Will earth run out of water
Water never goes away, and never increases. There is the same amount of water today as there has ever been.
Since 3/4 of the earth surface is water (oceans), we will not run out of water. However this water is salt water.
There is a serious problem with running out of fresh water (no salt).
But gradually natural water resources such as lakes, reservoirs and rivers are getting chocked with debris and plastics and due to this we will run out of potable water.
As we all know about 70% of earth is covered with water and about 95% water is found in sea.
Only about 3% of water is fresh water and only 0.3% water is surface water found in lakes and rivers.
About 30% of 3% is found as ground water rest in glaciers and icecaps.
We are mostly dependent on 0.3% surface water and in recent past ground water is exploited beyond repairs.
This ground water is stored in the ground for centuries and we have exhausted all ground water which is within reach.
Due to continuous exploitation of surface water and ground water for industrial purposes, irrigation and unplanned utilization we are finding shortages in potable water.
Apart from this most importantly, the source of surface water is used as waste dumping places.
As we can see most of the water bodies have become the dumping yards, all the city waste, industrial wastes joins these places and gradually becomes non potable.
The over usage of chemical fertilizers is another reason for water getting contaminated.
The plastic menace, the plastic water bottles have added to the problems.
Due to deforestation, the rain water is joining the oceans thus reducing the quantum of infiltration and available useful surface water.
Though the quantity of water has not reduced, our activities have made it look like reduced. We have made it dirty, non potable and useless for human consumption.
Drinking water from packaged bottles is no more a sign of development.
If we plan and distribute the available resources in a judicious way and stop polluting the sources, we will not run out of water. Desalination is not a solution.
Our ancestors were conservative, they worshiped natural resources as God and used all the resources as per their minimum requirements.
They never exploited, they were not greedy, they saved them for the future generations.
Where as we present generation are utilizing all resources as if there is no tomorrow.
Want to become rich by whatever means, beg, borrow or steal.
If we continue with this attitude, the World will run out of all resources, Flora, Fauna, water and greens.
Give our Mother Earth a New lease of life. Help her to survive so that you can survive.
You have probably drank the same water molecules as the dinosaurs, it constantly recycles itself.
Unless the atmosphere disappears, it should continue to do as it has over millions of years.
Shortage of available drinkable water is another issue due to world population demand.
So no, we’ll never run out of water or not until the Sun grows so large it burns off our atmosphere and water as it consumes the planet in the heliosphere.
