What is the scariest planet in our solar system?

Venus is probably as close as you can get to what has been described as Hell.

It may be roughly the same size and mass as the Earth, (and named for the Goddess of Love), but forget about visiting.

The temperature on Venus exceeds 850 degrees F. (Existing NASA spacesuits are only designed to protect you up to about 250 degrees.)

If that weren’t unpleasant enough, the incredibly dense atmosphere is filled with droplets of sulfuric acid.

But at least you’d have a place to stand while you were baked to a crisp inside your spacesuit (that is, while it lasted… since it wouldn’t be too long before the acid went to work!)

The four gas giant planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune) are only marginally better.

While you won’t have any worries about exceeding the safe high-temperature range of your spacesuit, you do have to concern yourself that they only provide protection down to about 250 below zero (F). It’s quite a bit colder than that.

Also, there’s no place to stand. When we see these planets, we’re seeing the cloud tops… and those clouds extend thousands of miles to a (possibly) solid surface closer to the core.

They’re not even happy, fluffy, summer-day kind of clouds. The sustained wind speeds range from a few hundred miles per hour to nearly 1000 miles per hour.

So it’s kind of a 5-way tie. You die quickly on all five of these worlds. But do you prefer dying by fire or ice?
